Our Caregiver Qualifications

At BrightStar, our people are our greatest asset. For over a decade, we’ve been known for providing quality in home care – and quality care starts with quality caregivers.

Through the years, we’ve refined our caregiver recruitment, screening and selection process to ensure we are hiring high-caliber, passionate caregivers. As a result, you’ll find that every BrightStar Senior Living of Madison caregiver is here because, to them, caring is more than just a job — it’s a way of life. Helping people is their passion. It’s what makes them truly shine. Because they know that, every day, they make a real difference by bringing more to life — more laughter, more comfort, more joy.

Our Professional BrightStar Senior Living of Madison Caregivers

Caregiver Experience +-

We strive to hire and cultivate a staff of competent, compassionate, and honest caregivers who embody the BrightStar Senior Living of Madison promises. To accomplish this, we look for employees that have healthcare experience on either a work or personal level. Additionally, we require any staff hired to work in our memory care neighborhood to become certified dementia caregivers by completing special training that helps enhance their skills and knowledge about working with individuals with memory loss.

Background Checks & Drug Screening +-

Achieving a sense of comfort and security is a tremendously important objective for any resident or family member looking to transition into senior living. At BrightStar Senior Living of Madison, we make the safety of our residents a top priority. During the hiring process and as required by the State of Wisconsin, we complete State and Federal background checks on all employees. Subsequently, a background check on every employee is repeated every four years. We also conduct employee drug screens upon hire as well as random drug screens on all employees.

Ongoing Caregiver Training +-

We believe our caregivers are the best at what they do, especially if as an organization we can enhance the skill set and understanding of our industry on an ongoing and continual basis. Continuing education for every BrightStar employee is essential to quality care and the personal growth of each employee. At a minimum each employee will receive 15 hours of continuing education per year. Additionally, we require all resident assistants to complete an annual refresher course that tests their skills in areas of medication administration, insulin injections, disease knowledge, resident rights, and emergency response. As part of our commitment to upholding our high quality standards, it is our responsibility to provide information about the latest advances in the field of geriatrics and to provide opportunities for ongoing training. Providing care is not simply a career. It’s a calling. We become a part of our residents’ lives, ensuring each person is living their best days – in whatever way that means to them. The commitment that our caregivers embody coupled with our specialized training is what makes us truly A Higher Standard.
