Our Memory Care Neighborhood

3416BrightStar Senior Living of Madison’s state-of-the-art memory care neighborhood was designed to be a comfortable, familiar environment that is intimate and easy to navigate.

The mission of our BrightStar Connections Memory Care program is simple: honor each resident both for who they were and who they are today in everything we do. In addition to delivering upon a customized plan of care, our specially trained and Dementia Specialist certified caregivers engage each resident in activities centered around what brings them joy. Each resident and their interests and preferences are not only valued but celebrated.

Whether it’s creating a photo album with old family photos, painting or planting petunias in our urban garden, the BrightStar Senior Living of Madison Memory Care Neighborhood serves as the blank canvas upon which our residents can create days filled with beauty.

Our Memory Care Neighborhood

Up amidst the treetops of quiet, maple-lined streets is BrightStar Senior Living of Madison’s state-of-the-art Memory Care Neighborhood. For our residents with dementia, we’ve created a beautiful and safe space just for them – geared completely toward promoting reminiscence, stimulating the senses and generally being a place worthy of being called home.

Environmental Cues –

With bright beams of sunlight streaming in the large windows and leaves rustling outside just beyond the glass, seasonal and time-of-day cues are ever-present. Person-centered life story boxes containing personal trinkets display outside of each resident suite both honor self-expression and serve as important directional cues. Even baking a loaf of bread or brewing coffee in the Bistro can let residents know that it’s mealtime. Cues can be critical for orienting residents with dementia and, in our Memory Care Neighborhood, they are always at the ready.

Thoughtful Design –

We’ve left no stone unturned in our quest to provide a fully secured and thoughtfully designed, prosthetic environment that optimizes function and enables people’s abilities. Comfortable furnishings, an inviting fireplace, a stunning outdoor patio area, art collages for redirecting and engaging residents, and generous common areas that are easy to find and navigate are just a few of the features created with the wellness and comfort of our Memory Care residents in mind.

Purposeful Programming –

Our decision to place the community’s full time Life Enrichment Coordinator in our Memory Care Neighborhood was a deliberate one, as activities, events and resident programming is especially critical for our residents with dementia. Resident-centered programming occurs 7 days a week, from reading and crafts in the Resident Library, interactive computer-based cognitive stimulation activities and safe cooking activities in the Bistro to partaking in lifelong hobbies or roles at our Life Skills Stations and more. Establishing routines and facilitating activity allows us to help residents to maintain the daily rhythm of life, which is orchestrated to promote structure and success.
