Resident Operations Manager
I graduated from the University of Wisconsin La Crosse with a degree in Recreation Administration. Over the last three years, I have enjoyed greatly learning about senior living care and the incredible work of caregivers in supporting older adults.
What attracted you to a career supporting and caring for older adults?
I thought I would work in municipal parks and recreation or for a resort on a tropical beach. My first job out of college was for the Kohler Co. working in their hospitality division. I eventually became a district manager and worked in that role for three companies for the past 18 years. I took the summer of 2014 off work to spend time with my parents who were living in a senior community. During that time with my parents, I found that I enjoyed being around them and the other residents and enjoyed being able to help take care of them and do special things for them. When I returned to work after having the summer off, I found myself missing the time I had spent at the senior community. I resigned from my job and started looking for a new career, a career that would give me meaning and purpose. I am very fortunate that BrightStar Senior Living has given me the opportunity to work for its residents and families.
What makes BrightStar Senior Living unique?
BrightStar Senior Living is unique in that it is an upscale, home-like community with very caring employees. It didn’t take long for BrightStar Senior Living to feel like home to me. I look forward to coming to work every day and being able to make a difference in the lives of our residents.
What are you passionate about in your role?
Being able to make a difference in the lives of the residents who live here. From overseeing the delicious meals they eat to being able to sit and enjoy a warm smile with them.
What brand promise word do you connect with and why?
Connection. Seniors can still experience happiness, joy and friendship in their later years. Seeing our residents connect with staff, participate in activities, tap their foot to live music, dance, laugh and smile gives me and the other staff members great joy.
